Mayan Community Brings Sacred Blessing, Art, and Ancestral
Knowledge to the Royal Society of Arts
London, UK | Monday 9 February 2026
The Memnosyne UK Chapter will host a sacred cultural gathering at the Royal Society of
Arts (RSA) on Monday 9 February 2026, welcoming members of the U kúuchil K
Ch’i’ibalo’on Community Center, a Mayan cultural organisation based in the Yucatán
Peninsula of Mexico.
The visiting delegation — comprising community elders, artists, and cultural guardians,
both women and men — is part of a European tour running from 22 January to 12
February 2026, with visits to Spain, Germany, Sweden, and the UK. Across the tour, the
community is sharing Mayan art, worldview, and community-led practices rooted in
ancestral knowledge, land stewardship, and cultural continuity.
U kúuchil K Ch’i’ibalo’on Community Center is based in the central region of Quintana Roo,
within the Mayan Masewal zone, and is part of the wider Memnosyne Institute network,
as well as a member of the Remain on Earth alliance.
As part of their London visit, the community will offer a traditional Mayan blessing for the
Memnosyne Institute at the RSA, honouring ancestral wisdom, Earth-based knowledge
systems, and the collective responsibility of communities to protect culture, land, and future
generations. The gathering will also include the sharing of artistic and cultural works,
offering insight into the stories, symbolism, and lived realities they represent.
Throughout their European journey, members of the community are engaging with
universities, museums, and cultural centres, participating in forums, talks, exhibitions,
and reflective dialogues addressing Indigenous knowledge systems, lived experience, and
the ongoing impacts of discrimination and structural inequality within global political and
economic systems.
During the tour, the Maya Community Center is also presenting the photographic exhibition
“Reflections”, marking its tenth anniversary. This powerful collection explores the deep
and enduring relationship between Maya women and their land, expressed through image,
memory, and lived experience.
The London gathering will take place in the Prince Philip Room at the Royal Society of Arts
and will include light refreshments.

About the Memnosyne Institute
The Memnosyne Institute is an international foundation dedicated to supporting humanity
in becoming conscious cultural creators of our shared future, providing pathways for
respectful, peaceful, and interactive collaboration across cultures and disciplines.
Founded on the understanding that globalisation affects not only economies, but also
culture, ecology, spirituality, science, and the arts, the Institute works to empower people
worldwide to recognize their shared humanity and to act collaboratively in shaping a more
conscious, compassionate, and sustainable world.
Memnosyne’s work is structured around seven core areas of knowledge: interfaith inquiry;
environment, science, economics, and technology; health and medicine; Indigenous
cultures; global and local outreach; art; and spirituality.
Through global programmes, campuses, and partnerships, the Institute supports
communities in responding creatively to the challenges of globalisation. Past initiatives
include facilitating the first treaty and alliance in over 300 years between the Hopi and
Navajo Nations, developing interfaith collaborations, creating the FoodSource programme
which has helped save over $55 million worth of food, and contributing to the development
of an AI “Vital Signs Monitor” enabling communities to assess progress against the United
Nations Sustainable Development Goals.
As stated by Mary Ann Thompson Frenk, President and Co-Founder of the Memnosyne
Foundation:
.
“We are at a point between countries and cultures where we will either bump
into each other, walk over each other, or choose to collaborate consciously and
evolve humanity. If we allow ourselves to evolve randomly, we invite
misunderstanding, conflict, and less innovation. But if we choose to collaborate
as conscious cultural creators, the future is limitless.”
About the Memnosyne UK Chapter
The Memnosyne UK Chapter is part of the global Memnosyne Institute network and
curates cultural, intellectual, and community-centred initiatives exploring memory,

Alongside talks, ceremonies, and dialogues hosted at institutions such as the Royal Society
of Arts, the UK Chapter is focused on translating ideas into practical, community-led
action.
A key UK initiative is FoodSource UK, a national programme addressing food insecurity and
food waste while supporting community self-help initiatives where food is shared in a
dignified and empowering way.
FoodSource UK works in partnership with community organizations, food producers, and
volunteers to recover surplus food, strengthen local food systems, and ensure access to
nutritious food without stigma. The programme priorities dignity, choice, and community
resilience, reflecting Memnosyne’s belief that cultural awareness, ecological responsibility,
and social justice must be addressed together.
