FoodSource UK is an initiative of the Memnosyne UK Chapter. Our mission is to connect bulk surplus with need by creating practical partnerships that reduce waste and strengthen communities.

01 Why It Matters
Across the UK, more than 14 million people are living in poverty while millions of tonnes of perfectly edible food are wasted every year.
At the same time, businesses, charities, local authorities and communities have the resources, expertise and goodwill to help create change. The Memnosyne UK Chapter’s FoodSource UK program exists to bring these opportunities together.
By connecting surplus food, equipment, skills and partnerships with community need, we can create lasting social, environmental and economic impact.

No good food should go to waste while people continue to experience food insecurity.
Collaboration is one of the greatest untapped resources we have.
This is more than food redistribution. It is about creating a better food system for everyone — a connected network where businesses, charities, government and communities work together to reduce waste, improve food security and strengthen local resilience.
The Hub — Merthyr Tydfil
Wales’ first regional food redistribution hub.
Beginning in Merthyr Tydfil, South Wales, we are establishing a central facility where quality surplus food can be received, safely stored and distributed through an existing network of community organisations.
Rather than replacing local food banks, The Memnosyne UK Chapter’s Food Source UK program strengthens the work they already do — providing shared infrastructure, logistics and coordination.

Adapting a model that works.
The Memnosyne UK Chapter’s Food Source UK program is inspired by the success of our founder partner FoodSource USA, an affiliated initiative of the Memnosyne Institute — a demonstration of the power of collaboration between businesses, charities and communities. We are adapting this successful model for Wales, creating the foundations for a nationally connected network of regional food redistribution hubs.
